It's a Beautiful Day for Yoga
Written and Illustrated by Emily A. Filmore

"Introducing kids to yoga is easy with this fun to read book...gorgeous hardbound book...As soon as I opened the package my 15 month old wanted to see it. When I opened the pages to show her the soft, chalk illustrations, she was enthralled. While she is too young to understand all of the poses, she thought it was great fun to see the little family in the book hanging upside down and stretching in all directions...The illustrations are simple, yet very clear in showing each yoga pose as the rhymes on each page walk you and your child through the simple yoga routine. Since these poses are meant for kids, there is nothing here that is too complicated for adults. You can demonstrate the poses for your child and help them learn how to do simple yoga stretches...This is a great gift item as well and would be a cherished part of any small child's book collection. I would suggest this book for children from about 2-8 years old."

"This delightful, interactive book appeals to all ages and both the novice and experienced "yogi." Beautiful illustrations compliment the rhythmic text on each page, making it fun to read. I can't think of a better way to connect with my daughter as we stretch our bodies and imaginations!"

"What a treat to find this creative new approach to children's books! This book provides a unique opportunity to connect and increase attachment with your child either by participating in the story or sitting and reading it together. It is an enjoyable and touching book which fosters social/emotional, language, intellectual and motor development. This is a great addition to your family's collection as it will springboard creative ways to make memories with your children."
~Nora P., Early Childhood Educator, St. Louis, MO

"It's a Beautiful Day for Yoga, I couldn't agree more! What a perfect introduction, not only into the personally unknown practice of Yoga, but also into a book series that does so much more than build a creative story in a child's mind, it encourages the essence of parents bonding with their child(ren). The tender moments of childhood are difficult to preserve, yet the With My Child series has leapt in with a 'Warrior Pose' to provide every family with a catalyst to build and grow those loving family memories. For that, this father thanks you, Emily!"
~David J., father of three

~Marie, New Mommy to Tyler

"In a world where too many children spend their days watching TV and not moving their bodies, "It's a Beautiful Day for Yoga" gets them up and on their feet! Great job Emily, our children will be healthier for it!!"
~Joan, Teacher PE Education Professor

"The kids and I loved the book! They were so excited and they wanted to bring the book to school to show all of their friends:) I look forward to seeing your other books in the series. It was amazing that they were trying to do all of the moves and it truly made it an interactive activity for them."
~Shari C., Mom of 4 kids

"My two boys love this book! We read it and try to do the poses together. What a great activity! I even bought one to give as a baby shower gift because we liked it so much."
~Mya, Mommy and School Counselor

"I read this book and enjoyed it! My sister and I were even able to do the poses together without our mom and dad because the pictures and words were so easy to understand. I think lots of little kids would like this book because they would be able to read the story, look at the pictures and have a good time!"
~Isaac, Age 10

"As a person who has never done yoga before this book has sparked an interest in yoga for me. As my daughter and I were reading the book the first time we suddenly got up from the couch and started doing the yoga poses together! Before long we were laughing and giggling so hard. We had so much fun that we decided that we would make it part of our special time together every day. This book has given us a new opportunity for bonding time - a chance to have fun while we use both our bodies and minds."
~Margaret, mommy to Rosa, Age 6

"I absolutely LOVE your book!!!! I did not want to stop reading it! I wish my grown daughter was still a little girl so that we could enjoy the book and practice yoga together. I can't wait to read your next book...that's just how much I enjoyed it! I think your illustrations and the way some words turned up, down, curved, etc adds a lot of charm and whimsy to the book!! Good Luck to you!"
~Vickie, School Counselor

"As a mother of three little girls who love to do yoga, ages 3, 5, and 7, we really enjoy this book. My girls and I like to read the book and do the poses together. The illustrations are fun and make it easy for children to follow. In a home with four children under the age of eight, it is often loud and chaotic. This book helps us to find a few minutes each day filled with giggles and serenity. I highly recommend this book to all mothers looking to capture those special moments with their children."
~Heather, Mommy and Home School Teacher

"Parents and children alike will appreciate the simple, beautiful rhyme that is woven with this introduction to yoga. The peaceful text and illustrations work well together to teach adults and children how to do yoga poses in an easy, natural way. Yet this book goes beyond the typical introduction to yoga books for kids. It also focuses on the special bond that is formed between parent and child when sharing an experience together."
~Renee, Third Grade Teacher

The secret to being a good parent

Every parent deserves to know that the secret of good parenting doesn’t rest in the number of minutes or hours you spend with your child per day; it lies in the way you spend whatever minutes you have together. Many parents feel immense guilt about the time they spend apart from their children due to work and other obligations. Those parents need to know that interactions, even short ones, when rich in quality, closeness, fun, hugs and learning about each other will lead to strong relationships and strong children! According to AskDrSears.com children who have experienced the attachment style of parenting have better behavior, are more trusting, are more independent, are more empathetic, and have increased learning capacity just to name a few. Read more about the benefits of attachment parenting here: http://www.askdrsears.com/html/10/T130500.asp

Reading together with your child is a good start, reading a book that encourages interaction and discussion is a GREAT start! The With My Child series of books are a great tool parents can use to increase the quality of bonding time through shared experiences.
